
On April 23, 2024, the Institute of International and Security Studies hosted for the first time in the Institute’s history the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, JE Andreas von Beckerath, who delivered a lecture entitled Sweden and Poland – a strong relationship in uncertain times.
More than 170 people, including students and staff of the Institute of International and Security Studies, attended the meeting. In addition to the keynote speech, the meeting was enriched by numerous questions from students and staff. During the event, issues such as Sweden’s membership in NATO, hybrid threats from Russia, Sweden’s role in EU climate policy, Poland-Sweden military cooperation, Sweden’s contribution to the security of Poland, the EU and NATO, and challenges to Sweden’s security were discussed.
The event was preceded by a meeting between the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, H.E. Andreas von Beckerath, and the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs of the University of Wroclaw, Prof. Maciej Cesarz; the Director of the Institute for International and Security Studies, Prof. Krzysztof Kociubinski; and the Institute’s Deputy Director for International Cooperation, Dr. Marek Musiol.
