We invite you to explore the new academic article by Dr Marek Musioł titled “Navigating Water Tensions: Unraveling the Desecuritization Discourse in Central Asia”, published in the journal Virtual Review (ISSN: 1336-9202).
In this article, the author analyzes the complex challenges associated with transboundary water conflicts in Central Asia through the lens of desecuritization. The study presents strategies for reducing regional tensions by deconstructing security narratives and promoting cooperation in water resource management. Case studies, such as the Rogun and Nurek dams in Tajikistan or Kambarata-1 in Kyrgyzstan, provide insights into the mechanisms of conflict escalation and the potential for diplomatic solutions.
The article discusses water diplomacy and desecuritization methodologies in a geopolitically critical region. The publication is available in open access on the journal’s website at DOI: 10.52651/vr.a.2024.3.36-48.
