On 28 January 2026, the Institute of International and Security Studies (ISMB) at the University of Wrocław hosted an open online lecture titled “Frontex, European Border and Coast Guard Agency”. The event was held on Microsoft Teams and featured two guest speakers from Frontex: Katarzyna Chudzińska, Communication Specialist, and Fabian Sahl, Strategic Analyst.

During the lecture, the speakers presented the mission and key tasks of Frontex as the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, focusing on its role in protecting the EU’s external borders and supporting EU Member States. They discussed the challenges facing the Agency in a rapidly changing security environment, the importance of strategic analysis and communication, and the role of international cooperation in border management.

An important part of the meeting was devoted to practical aspects of professional development. Students received detailed information about internship and recruitment procedures at Frontex, the Agency’s working environment, and possible career paths. The lecture was followed by a discussion and a Q&A session.

The event brought together over 60 students from Polish and international study programmes offered by ISMB, including national security, international security, global studies and international relations. The strong turnout confirmed the high level of interest in Frontex’s operations and the contemporary challenges related to EU border security. The lecture was part of ISMB’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the practical dimension of its teaching and marked the second such initiative, aimed at direct engagement between students and international practitioners.
