On 26 May 2026, the Institute of International and Security Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Wrocław, hosted a lecture and seminar by Prof. Jonathan S. Miner, JD, PhD, from the University of North Georgia, Department of Political Science & International Affairs.
The event was organised as part of Prof. Jonathan S. Miner’s visit to the University of Wrocław and was funded by the Visiting Professors Programme — Short Visits “Initiative of Excellence – Research University” (IDUB).
Professor Miner delivered a lecture entitled “Comparative Policy Analysis and Diplomacy in Practice: United Nations Initiatives and Resolution Writing in a Changing International Order”. The meeting focused on the practical and academic dimensions of contemporary diplomacy, comparative analysis of foreign policy, the limitations of international negotiations, and the significance of initiatives undertaken within the United Nations. Particular attention was paid to the process of drafting resolutions, the functioning of diplomacy in an evolving international order, and the challenges of resolving contemporary global conflicts.
As part of Prof. Jonathan S. Miner’s visit, a meeting was also held with representatives of the Institute of International and Security Studies’ Directorate. Discussions centred on opportunities for further developing academic cooperation between the University of Wrocław and the University of North Georgia. New ideas were discussed regarding joint academic publications, applying for research and teaching grants, and organising international conferences, seminars, and other academic initiatives.
Prof. Miner’s visit was an important step towards the internationalisation of the Institute of International and Security Studies’ teaching and research activities and created an opportunity to deepen cooperation in the fields of political science, international relations, academic diplomacy, and education, with a focus on practical forms of learning.
