On March 19, 2024, the Institute of International and Security Studies hosted Prof. Wayne Wanta from the University of Florida, who delivered a lecture entitled International News and Public Perception of Nations and National Leaders. The visit was organized by Dr. Bartlomiej Lodzki.

Wayne Wanta is Professor Emeritus at the UF College of Journalism and Communications (University of Florida) and a renowned researcher in political communication and media influence. His research focuses on the agenda-setting function of the media – how press coverage affects public perceptions about issues and public figures and includes sports journalism, visual communication, Internet use and its effects, and negative political advertising.
Prof. Wanta received his doctorate from the University of Texas in 1989 and has extensive professional experience. He served as president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and worked as a journalist before embarking on an academic career. Prof. Wanta has also taught at Oklahoma State University, the University of Missouri, the University of Oregon, and Southern Illinois University, and his contributions to the field of journalism education and research are internationally recognized.
