Department of International Communication
The Department of International Communication at the Institute of International Studies has existed since 2002. The research conducted within the department focuses on public diplomacy, city diplomacy, and the strategic communication of states; international and global communication and their social, economic, political, and technological determinants; multiculturalism as a factor shaping media systems; the role of governments, non-governmental organizations, and particularly international organizations in international communication; the relationship between the political system and the media system, with a special emphasis on the use of media in foreign policy; as well as environmental communication and climate diplomacy.
